Revisiting My Goals

Now that it’s already March I thought I’d revisit my goals for the year.Personal
Be a better friend, son, and brother.

Doing so-so on this.  Still need to figure out the friend thing.  Amanda makes fun of me since I’m such a hermit.  It’s just hard.  I just don’t like bars.  My goal is to get a good house that will allow me to entertain and host more.

I’m helping around my folks house more and have been very encouraging of my parents and in particular my father to get healthier.  He’s got a personal trainer now and Mom just started aquacizing.  I’m taking Dad to our first spring training this month.

Brother-wise.  Hmm.  I’m talking to Jeff more, Debbie about the same.  Need to work on this.

Enjoy the moment.
Definitely.

Get outside more.
I’ve been hiking with Amanda and her dog Charlie weekly when the weather and my foot allow it.  Should do it even more once my toe is fully healed.

Eat less red meat, and more vegetables.
When I wrote this I was eating red meat twice a day, I’m down to once a day with only a few slip ups.  Still need more veggies.

Get rid of unnecessary things.
Amanda has really helped with the clutter factor.  It’s like living in a new place.  But I dream of a minimalist life that’s totally organized.  But I’m such a packrat I don’t know if this will ever happen.

Move into a new place.
This will come when the checks clear on a couple of big things in the works (knock on wood).

Professional
Supercharge Ninja merchandise revenues.

In progress (knock on wood).

Maximize revenues from Advertising and Licensing.
In progress (knock on wood).

Launch a new and original internet series.
On hold for a bit.

Sell a project to Hollywood.
In progress (knock on wood).

So that’s that.  On the personal and long term stuff I’m glad that I haven’t given up yet and am still making progress.  On the business front I think that we’ll have more to report soon.

  • The packrat thing will only get undone by stages, which is okay.

You go through a bunch of stuff, throw out some, can’t figure out what else to get rid of. Then you come back to it again in a week, and some of the stuff you couldn’t bear to part with — ehh, now that you look again, it’s not worth keeping. You make a trip to Goodwill.

Some time later, you find a trove of stuff that all just strikes you as crap, so you throw it away. You get a new desk or cabinet or bookshelf or whatever, and actually have fun organizing + discarding leftovers. You make another trip to Goodwill. Et cetera.

At some point, you find yourself making a trip to Goodwill that involves clearing out the trunk and the backseat first so you can fit in all the stuff you’re giving away. At that point, the snowball is well and truly rolling for you.

By “you,” of course, I mean “I.” :)

Hang in there — it gets easier.
