Memo To ABC, embrace your audience
I’d love to embed the first episode of Squeegees, the first show out of Disney’s Stage 9 studio, but I can’t. They’ve turned it off on YouTube, and don’t make it available on their ABC.com site. And forget about podcasting it.
And check out the first vid, low views, lots of comments comparatively and they’re all positive. Fishy.
I don’t care what you think about the quality of the show itself, but it’s doomed to failure because its hands are tied behind its back.
I can somewhat understand limiting embedding for broadcast shows (but I’d argue it’s been a boon to the Daily Show and Colbert Report), but this is an online only show. It needs to compete alongside all of the other shows out there using all of the tools.
There’ve been a lot of blog posts about this show — and each one of them would’ve probably embedded the first episode. Now that opportunity is lost. Forever.
If you want to compete in the online world. Then do it. Stop the half-assery.

Right on, Kent. How is anyone going to know where to find “Squeegees?” Or to look for it in the first place. Bring on the embeds!

Hi Kent-
LOL - fishy indeed. Check out the response to my comment here:

So, like, that guy hired them and they’re really irresponsible dumb-asses! OMG they throw their beer cans down and hit people on the head, including the boss! Clearly the “best show ever!” (actual YouTube comment.)
I don’t know. It seems to me that the internet demands either much more sophisticated humor, like the Ninja, TikiBar or Ze Frank - or - if you’re going to go broad and low-brow you’ve got to go an AWFUL lot lower to compete with the other stuff on the internet. And I’m not sure low-brow can be sustained as a series either. You’d burn yourself out pretty quick racing to the bottom.

Episode #2 has been featured. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkMuqqGjmwM
Imagine that…
I didn’t watch episode 2 because the comments say it sucks. The first one was OK.

hmmm, I just checked and it’s embeddable.
That said, they’d be smart to do some appetizers/short funny scenes to pull the audience in. I got into corner gas that way — http://www.videosift.com/video/Corner-Gas-How-Blogs-Are-Born — and it seems like every episode of flight of the conchords gets the best bits digitized and bitesized.
